Family holiday 'helps finances'

Category: Credit Cards
Date: 29 September 2008

Cash-strapped adults are considering holidaying with their parents in a bid to save money, it has emerged.

Research by Saga has revealed that almost half of adults in their late 20s who last went on a family holiday in their teens are now travelling abroad with their parents as they attempt to save money as well as benefit from the added option of free childcare.

Chief executive of Saga Andrew Goodsell remarked: "It is encouraging that a positive outcome of the credit crunch hitting younger travellers could be that families, including grandparents, are getting to spend more time together."

One way to save money could be to undertake a quick credit card comparison to spot which products do not charge additional fees for use overseas.

Abbey recently discovered that around 15 million Brits will be heading abroad to catch some winter sun later this year, with an average of £195 likely to be spent on credit cards.
