It is almost three weeks since I took the plunge to put a for sale sign outside my house. So far things seem to going well, and the last few days have seen a flurry of activity.
So far five viewings have been booked in, and one offer has been received. It is encouraging that people are interested; I had the fear when I started this process that the house would go on the market and no one would be interested.
All pretty good you would think, but there is a catch, the offer is for a ‘cash purchase'. Which apparently gives the buyer permission to put in a much lower offer then normal? Some would call it cheeky, some would call it all part of the game. So we are now in the position of trying to put in a similarly reduced offer for our desired house. You can only offer what you can afford after all.
Trying to ‘polish' the offer by emphasizing the fact the cash purchase will go through quickly so the sale could complete very quickly will require some flowery sales language. This doesn't come naturally, British politeness overrides sales techniques. So we asked the House Revolution team to step in and make the sales pitch for us. Still got our fingers crossed, waiting for a decision.
I am feeling confident enough to do a bit of Tesco online shopping for shiny new stuff for house. Let's just hope that it doesn't all go sour and selling a house turns out to be harder than I thought.
Although maybe I should take on board recent research on the happiest places to live before the final decision is made. I thought I was pretty decided on where I wanted to live. According to this research Powys is the happiest place in Britain. Just a thought.
If things do go smoothly maybe this can be the start of a property empire! Maybe I'll be in the position like the Republican Party presidential hopeful John McCain by having so many properties he was unsure how many houses he owns. Nice position to be in I am sure you will agree.
